Tea, the second most consumed beverage in the world, not only tastes great but has numerous benefits to your health. Tea in general has many antioxidants that can help prevent disease. There are four main types of tea that all the other teas stem from. Herbal tea is not actually a tea because it is made of many different herbs
Green tea: Green tea has many antioxidants which are said to interfere with the growth of bladder, breast, lung, stomach, pancreatic and colorectal cancers. It also burns fat, reduces stress, and lessens the risk of neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. This tea also reduces the risk of stroke and improves cholesterol levels. It has also been shown to increase exercise endurance.
Black tea: Black tea has high amounts of caffeine and, therefore, helps keep you awake with a great taste. Another perk of black tea is that has polyphenols; they aid in keeping your breath smelling sweet all day whilst preventing plaque buildup. Studies have shown that black tea may aid in protecting lungs from cigarette smoke. It has also been theorized to reduce the risk of stroke.
White tea: White tea is uncured and fermented, studies have shown that it may have the strongest anticancer properties. It also has been shown to prevent cardio vascular disease.
Oolong tea: Oolong tea is said to lower bad cholesterol levels and promote weight loss.
Grab yourself a cup of tea today to promote your health and aid you towards the steps of a better tomorrow.

Is your smartphone causing you to miss out on life?

Smartphones have revolutionized communication in the 21st century. Over fifty-six percent of Americans own a smartphone and seventy percent of teenagers own one.
Americans rely on our smartphones for a variety of different tasks. Paying bills, monitoring bank accounts, communicating with friends and family, checking our emails, using social media, and listening to music are just a few of these activities.
According to a Mobile Mindset Study, fifty-eight percent of American smartphone owners check their phones every hour. Seventy-three percent of people stated that they would experience the panicked feeling that is experience after losing their smartphone.
“Yes I think that I’m addicted to my smartphone because I get really anxious when I lose it. I always want to know if someone texts me, and I have to be connected to social media,” said Senior Justis Warner.
Senior Ashleigh Weaver said, “No I don’t think that I’m addicted to mine because I can go without it and function without it.”
This smartphone addiction can lead to health problems. “Text claw” is the soreness and cramping in fingers and wrists caused by repetitive fine motor activity such as texting or playing games like Candy Crush. Cutting off cell phone use can cause withdrawal symptoms, similar to those seen with drug and alcohol addiction. In 2011, a study concluded that a 24-hour separation from a phone could cause fidgeting, anxiety, and isolation. Additionally, a Wall Street Journal study found that coliform bacteria, fecal contamination, were found on cell phones in an office.
There are few benefits to constantly being attached to your cell phone. Reducing the amount on your cell phone can bring about benefits such as increased efficiency and collaboration, heightened job satisfaction, and a better work-life balance. There are a few strategies to wean off of your use of cell phones. Choose certain hours to not be on your phone, such as from 9 pm to 7 am. Avoid situations that cause you to be on your phone, such as being alone or nervous.
Decreasing the time spent on your smartphone can only bring about positive effects for your social and physical well-being.
