On October 18, senior Tshawn Hicks and his sister, sophomore Janel Hicks, put down the books and headed to La Ramana, Dominican Republic for a week. They traveled with their church, Carlisle Evangelical Free Church, to help those living in poverty and share the gospel. Read more>> WAGE HOPEThe first thing Mr. Rick Vensel, the operations and business manager and school board secretary, said when he was diagnosed was, “Tell me what we can do to make a difference for others.” Because November is National Pancreatic Cancer Month, students participated in a school-wide “Purple Out” on November 20. Supporters wore purple shirts printed with the battle cry of the movement, “Wage Hope.” Read more>>

On Friday, November 7, Boiling Springs held their fourteenth annual Veterans Day breakfast in the cafeteria. The Interact club ran the event, under the guidance of the club advisors, Amanda Long and Christopher Storrick. The breakfast is a way to thank the veterans for their service. Brightening a person’s day does not have to be difficult or take up a large amount of time. One of the main ways to encourage others is to let them know someone is thinking of them. Although many consider help to come from donations and monetary funds, just a simple note can do wonders. The act of receiving a letter can allow people to feel that they are cared about and that they are not alone. Read more>> |
