For the typical student, high school consists of four years within these halls. However, some atypical students with extraordinary drive and determination find ways to complete high school in three years. This year, Rebekah Vensel and Keegan Rawls will both walk across the stage a year early.
Rawls has attended three other high schools in her high school career making Boiling Springs her fourth high school. Moving around with her family due to the military lifestyle has allowed her to complete more credits because of the wide variety of classes. She had already taken most of the core classes offered here for juniors. On top of her course loads, Rawls is also taking four online class in order to graduate in June. Despite a harder workload, she is excited to graduate alongside her sister, Maddy Wedderspoon making graduation a momentous moment for their families.
“ I have had to make some mature choices because of this decision. I’ve had to stay home and study instead of going out, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. It’s worth it to me in the end,” said Rawls.
Vensel has been a Bubbler all of her life and due to her family circumstances made her decision to graduate a year early. Made possible by doubling up in core classes along with taking online classes, Vensel discovered that her senior year she would only need one class to in order to graduate. To finish all of her credits, Vensel has been taking HACC classes this year.
Vensel has found that reaching this goal is harder than expected.
“Doing this is hard, but it can be achievable. I’m glad I’m doing it, but it’s not for everyone,” said Vensel.
After graduation, both girls have different plans for next year. Rawls would like to either study abroad or travel, but she is not quite sure what she will be doing. Vensel would like to do some missionary work or an internship with Disney World or music therapy. Another option Vensel is considering is taking HACC classes or working.
