CHEERLEADERS MAKE IT TO STATES
On Saturday December 13, the BSHS cheerleading squad competed at Central Dauphin East High School in the PIAA District Championships. Although it was the first time the girls had ever competed, the cheerleaders placed sixth, moving them onto the State Championships.
Since September, the cheerleaders have been practicing this routine and perfecting it. “It felt so good to finally hit our routine after months of hard work and practice,” said co-captain Andrea Harry. The squad had no stunts drop and scored a composite total of 57.83 points.
The cheerleaders competed against 13 other teams in the medium division in which each squad has 16 to 20 cheerleaders. Penn Manor took second place under Exeter Township, who received gold medals. The cheerleaders of Berks Catholic High School surpassed Boiling Springs by only half of a point. The top nine squads in the division progress to states. The Lady Bubblers will advance along with Carlisle’s cheerleaders who took eighth place.
The state championships will take place on January 23-24 at the Giant Center in Hershey. The cheerleaders will compete against 120 squads from all over Pennsylvania.
